Nutritional Counseling

Many patients come to our center seeking assistance to determine what supplements they should be taking and why. The focus of our nutritional doctors and therapists is beyond finding a better vitamin. We will work with you to identify your specific health needs and goals while assessing your diet and lifestyle habits that may be contributing to lack of vitality and/or symptoms of accelerated aging. These can show as: digestive challenges, hormonal imbalances, poor memory, joint pain and inflammation, damaged metabolism and weight gain. We will not only determine the most appropriate nutrients for your body's needs, but also the correct dosage and the proper time to take them.

Initial diagnostic screening may include a health history questionnaire, vitality and longevity assessment, screening for possible food and environmental allergens, heart rate variability and a body composition evaluation using bio-impedance assessment instrumentation (an advanced medical
instrument to measure not only body fat and metabolism, but
also cellular health). Other advanced testing is available.

The director of the Center, Dr. Mark deDubovay, can provide you with a complimentary consultation to answer questions and coordinate the appropriate assessments and care.

Diet and Lifestyle
Many people who come to the Advanced Wellness Center are confused about the conflicting nutritional information found in the media, or reported by various health authorities. Those working in the field of nutrition realize that many of the concepts presented to the public have not only been wrong, but have contributed to the poor health of society today. Old concepts, such as the low fat and non-fat food craze have shorted our body's of desperately needed nutrients and have increased our fatigue and body fat while decreasing the optimal performance of our metabolism. Consequently our clients arrive misinformed, overweight, tired and discouraged while looking for the answers about what foods to eat (and not eat) in order to improve their, and their family's health. There is no one nutritional plan that suits every person's needs. Our nutritional professionals specialize in restoring your wellness in order to support a healthy body composition and improve your well-being by customizing therapeutic food and diet plans for you. Custom plans are designed according to your body and blood type, food allergies, known diagnosed conditions and many other considerations. Whether you are interested in simply learning how to improve your and your family's diet or are interested in long-term personalized support, the AWC offers guidance by specialists who have many years experience to help integrate new, healthy solutions into your life.

Learning/ADD Therapies
The doctors and therapists at the AWC offer a variety of approaches to assist children and adults challenged by learning disabilities. We begin with an assessment to discover underlying causes. These may include any combination of nutritional imbalances or deficiencies; chemical, food, or heavy metal sensitivities/irritations; imbalances of the nervous system; or many other subtle triggers. Treatment options range from special dietary guidance, nutritional therapies, and neurological rebalancing (which may include advanced chiropractic, craniopathy; low-level laser synchronization; heart rate variability; biofeedback training for relaxation and mental focusing, and color/sound therapies). Many types of stress, toxins, imbalances, or deficiencies can affect the normal function of the sensitive and complex nervous system, and this can greatly affect how we learn. Have you, or your child been bothered by:

If you answered sometimes or often to two or more of these questions, an AWC health professional can advise you about natural solutions. There are a variety of approaches to assist both children and adults. We begin with an assessment to discover underlying causes, such as any combination of nutritional imbalances or deficiencies - chemical, food or heavy metal sensitivities/irritations, imbalances of the nervous system, neurotransmitters - or many other subtle triggers.

Role of Neurotransmitters on Health
Many children and adults who experience learning disabilities and hyperactivity issues may suffer from a neurotransmitter imbalance. Neurotransmitters are brain chemicals that relay signals between nerve cells and are required for proper brain function. Addressing this imbalance can be the key to getting ADD and learning issues under control, whether the underlying cause is dietary, stress, genetics or other factors. Left untreated, every system in your body is affected and can result in a negative impact to your overall health.

Prescription drugs designed to treat ADD and learning disorders may provide temporary relief by manipulating existing neurotransmitter imbalances or forcing a further depletion of already strained levels. But, without a sufficient supply to begin with, the drugs may not be effective or their effect sustainable. Further, medications often focus on a single neurotransmitter, such as seratonin, but ADD and learning disorders may involve more than one chemical. Such conditions require more complex formulations that will address the involvement of multiple transmitter deficiencies.

A newer approach uses a urinary test to measure your current neurotransmitter levels and helps to determine which natural supplements are needed to replenish them. The supplements include combinations of specific amino acids, vitamins and minerals that naturally increase the body's production and supply of neurotransmitters. Replenishing the right balance of the brain chemicals involved in learning and attention can set the stage for restoring optimal health, function and happiness.

If you, or your child, can identify with the checklist above, then let us support you on a natural, comprehensive approach to identify and correct the underlying issues and restore your optimal function and wellness.
