“Throughout my childhood,
I was interested in the
human body and how it
functions. Then, when I
began working in the
healthcare system, I focused
on helping others become
aware of their own body's
full potential — optimal
health.”
Dr. Shay earned her
Bachelor of Science degree
in Kinesiology from Penn
State University and a
Master’s of Science in
Clinical Exercise Physiology
from East Stroudsburg
University. Her quest for
continued healthcare
education led her to the Los
Angeles Chiropractic College
and a Doctorate of
Chiropractic, where she
graduated with honors.
Today, Dr. Shay is an
American College of Sports
Medicine certified Clinical
Exercise Specialist and a
faculty member of the Los
Angeles College of
Chiropractic.
“Everyday I work to
provide athletes and
families the best tools to
promote health and increased
quality of life.” Her
broad-range of techniques
include: functional movement
evaluations, force and
non-force manipulations,
active release and soft
tissue therapies, functional
taping (kinesiotaping),
rehabilitation exercises and
nutritional support.
Outside of the Center,
Dr. Shay lends her talents
as a volunteer. As
supervising clinician at the
Annual Trical Wildflower
Triathlon, she has overseen
chiropractic interns perform
athlete injury evaluations,
chiropractic treatment,
functional taping and
athlete education. She has
also volunteered with AIDS
Lifecycle — a weeklong event
from San Francisco to Los
Angeles — giving the riders
relief with chiropractic
treatment along the way. Her
local community service
extends to the Long Beach
Substance Abuse Foundation
and the Anza Native American
Reservation.
In her free time, Dr.
Shay enjoys an abundance of
healthy, physical
activities, like running,
hiking, basketball,
softball, camping and
learning how to surf. She is
also a proud sponsor of
Long Beach and
Los Alamitos Pop Warner
football and cheerleading.
