Sidney Tarpinian, LMFT (Licensed Marriage Family Therapist)
Sidney Tarpinian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fordham University, his MBA from New York University, and his MA in Counseling Psychology from National University. He is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist.
As a psychologist, Sid works from the perspective that there is a direct link between our outward behaviors and the way we think and feel. Our behaviors, or reactions, largely determine the quality of our lives and relationships. Whereas, early childhood experiences may be important and useful information, the focus of this therapy is on the here and now. The goal is to weaken the connections between troublesome situations and one's unhelpful and habitual thoughts and feelings. The changed, or reframed, self-defeating or self-harming thinking patterns result in new behaviors that will enhance one's quality of life.
"Helping people has always been a part of my life." With this philosophy at the core of his practice, each patient will learn skills to be used after therapy and, in a sense, become his/her own therapist. The patient will, therefore, be expected to take an increasingly active role in the therapy as the sessions progress.
Sidney Tarpinian is offering counseling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples. His focus is on the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, grief and loss, self-esteem, career, and maturity issues, as they impact relationships. He also provides stress management training, hypnosis and works with the Freeze-Framer Learning System as a tool to promote the body's optimal performance.
Sid offers a free 30-minute office consultation to ask questions and discuss available options.
